One of the projects we have decided to start this year is a good sized pumpkin patch. We want to try and sell pumpkins and mums and even cut flowers from the farm. We are starting small...ish and hoping that as we add on to the farm we can sell to our local people more than just pumpkins. But everyone has to start somewhere, right?

On planting day my sister-in-law, Kristel came down with my beautiful nieces. Miss Evelyn was so eager to help Uncle Phillip in the field planting pumpkins. He would measure out the distance and she would plant the pumpkin seed in the ground. It was so good to have the family all together and working on projects at the farm. You see, I married into this farm. My in-laws built this farm from the ground up. The land is beautiful and it used to be buzzing with cows, chickens and hogs. But through some family sickness and loss, the farm lost itself a bit. So, we have decided as a family that we are going to help my father-in-law bring back the love of farming to the property.

We have been taking our dogs to the farm to get them more accustomed to the farm dog life. They love it. And Wyatt, who is pictured in almost all of these photos, thinks he was born to be a farm dog. They both love to run and play but most of all they love when they get to be around kids. The best part of the day, besides getting the whole field planted, was when Evelyn decided she and Wyatt were going to cool off in the water using a dog toy. They played and played and we all belly-laughed until our stomachs hurt.

Honestly, the whole day was amazing. The neighbors that we do the garden with were there to help with the pumpkin patch. We got to see Kristel. And we even got to run and play with my beautiful nieces. It was a productive day, but we made it fun just being surrounded by family and friends. And because my niece and my dog are adorable, I will leave you with the picture that I was informed by my niece meant they were "friends."
